Who

One of the world’s largest integrated Oil & Gas companies.  The company does Upstream exploration and development all across the world along with Downstream refining and distribution of products.  Being a large integrated company, it has a number of critical aspects when it comes to projects: security and special circumstances due to financial models, regulations and internal controls for each project.  

What

Due to complexities of the projects, the company required a long-term Project Management support for a number of their IT led projects (43 projects over the life of support with over 11 concurrent projects across the world).

The support included: tracking controls, financial forecasting with budgeting, internal and external regulatory compliance, CAPEX and OPEX tracking, vendor and invoice management, resource tracking and time management, WBS allocations and authorizations, corporate security and regulatory compliance,  

Most of the projects needed to be managed through proprietary corporate Management Methodology or via Agile Scrum method.  In addition, there was a requirement that the Project Manager support acted as a process mentor and regulatory validation member for all project leads of each project.

How

Utilizing the experience of two decades in project management across many industries including 10+ Oil and Gas companies, the on-site Project Manager was able to provide an experienced management of projects that were ranged from $50K to $35m in size in areas of Facility build-outs, SAP software expansion for compensation management, new development in Australia, Nigeria, Ghana, US and Canada, IT staffing in Brazil and Argentina, Supply Chain integration and consolidation projects and a number of other large initiatives.  Planview, SAP, MS Project, Office 365, DocuSign, Power BI and Tableau were the primary technologies tools for project management initiatives while utilizing various: scope controls, budgeting, regulatory, invoice management, vendor management and resource management aspects of each project.
