Who

A corporate entity that is wholly controlled and managed by the local government of one of the largest cities in the United States.  The company administers a number of large city-owned real estate properties (convention center, parking lots, hotels attached to convention centers, special events buildings and alike) and collects revenues from those properties as well as parts of city visitors’ taxes.

What

The corporation over the last couple of years has been slowly migrating to the cloud services primarily supported by the Microsoft infrastructure.  As part of the move to the cloud, their financial system was the next step in that process.  The company relied heavily for their everyday accounting system on the on-premise installed Dynamics 2012 AX R1.  The system version was falling off from MS Support and at end-of-life.  As part of the company’s over-all move to the cloud and Office 365, the executive decision to move the accounting software into the Office Dynamics 365 has been made.  Along with the upgrade and the migration of Dynamics, the company required a general Office 365 support across multiple areas of their expanding Microsoft cloud.

Currently there is no existing direct path of upgrade from Dynamics 2012 AX R1 to Office D365.

How

Using a hybrid model of a local Project Manager and Sr. Technical Architect, the analysis of the existing system, workflows, integrations and business process has been completed by local resources. Development efforts led by local based Sr. Architect and Project Manager working together with remote resources were able to upgrade and migrate the Dynamics business process along with work processes and integrations in less then 6 months. End-user and technical training for the client’s technical staff was performed with over a period of 3 weeks along with support and training documentation for the long term self-sustained model.  The entire project came on-time and with-in budget, all during a worldwide COVID-19 crisis.
